P2263 — Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost System Performance (6.7 Power Stroke)

Actual boost does not track desired boost over a range of conditions on 6.7 Powerstroke.

What it means

The PCM compares commanded boost to measured boost and finds a mismatch across operating conditions.1

Most likely causes

  1. VGT vane sticking from soot — VGT mechanism sticks, causing boost to deviate from target.1
  2. Turbo actuator fault — Actuator position error or calibration drift prevents correct vane control.1
  3. Intercooler/boot leaks — Boost leaks reduce measured boost relative to commanded.1
  4. MAP/boost sensor error — Incorrect boost feedback makes actual vs desired appear mismatched.1

How to diagnose

  1. Verify freeze frame and repeat the condition under load to confirm boost deviation.
  2. Inspect charge-air system for leaks: intercooler boots, clamps, CAC.
  3. Check MAP/boost sensor readings vs a known-good reference at idle and under load.
  4. Command VGT vane position with scan tool and monitor actual vs desired; look for sticking or slow response.
  5. Review VGT actuator learned position; a learned travel out of range suggests sticking VGT or actuator wear.
